Okay, sometimes, it is best to just STEP AWWAAAAAY from the computer, and get out in to the real world of outdoor activities. Being an environmentalist myself (and part-time computer nerd), I like to get out to do outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing, camping, and paintballing.

Well, I had recently started participating in a group in my area that does these kinds of activities. They have a dates set, a place and time to meet, and we get moving.

I was reading a blog of a lady or a man who stated that they don’t seem as enthusiastic about “going out” or leaving the house to socialize with people. I don’t  know if she’s making excuses or whatever, but apparently, this answers my question as to why I never see single women out and about at events.

In our areas we always have County Fairs, Street Parties weekly, Flea Market Extravaganzas, those City/County 4th of July Bashes.

With the dawn of My Space, Yahoo 360, Friendster, etc. (I like to call them the “poor man’s dating sites, lol). There’s a new form of the “online profile”. These sites seem to set the precedence of how one can now go about putting up an online profile and a certain method of how they present themselves.

I have seen this method used on other regular dating sites as well. This particular format is (for women) to post around 5 or 6 photos of oneself in their bikini or even underwear. Some shove the webcam into their cleavage, and take pictures of certain body parts (no nudity of course, they aren’t allowed on the sites). Online pictures of their butts, cleavage…..more butts and cleavage.

Single and Seeking…….Attention?

Of course, this quote from the famous movie, was done in the 80’s, heck, even an Extra Terrestrial didn’t have email or instant messengers back then, he had to use a “Speak and Spell” machine, which was close enough, right?

I’ve done some research on the internet and I’m wondering if this is a new generation thing. I am now seeing that people are admitting that when doing online dating, they’d prefer to be “in communicado” via the chat client like Yahoo Instant Messenger or AIM (AOL Instant Messenger). I think people are subconsciously being less personal and less personal by the day. It just seems that online dating these days is being taken for granted.
